The Government of Tanzania has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting this sector. For instance, as reported by the Citizen newspaper on October 17, 2025, Tanzania has allocated TZS 10 billion to the Kibaha Biotech Factory for pesticide production in the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
This support reflects the sector’s critical importance, given its direct impact on human and animal health. Globally, this sector generates the highest number of patents, underscoring its innovation-driven nature. It is important to recognize, however, that intellectual property protection varies by country, with each jurisdiction having its own legal framework defining the scope of protection.
In Tanzania, the government has actively promoted capacity building by facilitating the transfer of technological knowledge and expertise to local professionals, thereby strengthening the country’s technical capabilities and fostering sustainable development within the sector.
